Product highlights
(1) Traditional crafts of Shiga Prefecture
Oyo Japanese candles were designated as a traditional craft of Shiga Prefecture in 1984.
They are made using a manufacturing technique called "tekake," in which wax is scooped up by hand and applied in layers around a core, then left to dry, then another layer of wax is applied and left to dry, again in a repeated process.
(2) The artisan’s manufacturing technique: Looking at the cross section, you can see that it is made up of multiple layers of wax surrounding a core.
The wax is hard and has a long burning time of 60 minutes. It also has little wax dripping or smoke, so you can use it with confidence.
(3) About the packaging: The heartwarming package illustration, drawn with colored pencils, was created by illustrator Danny. It is a beautiful design that won an award for its sophisticated package design at the TOPAWARDS ASIA, an Asia-only package design award.
