A series on Daimon, Minato Ward, Tokyo (Part 4): The future of Daimon, a town living alongside Tokyo Tower
The unchanging in a changing landscape
The tranquility of Zojoji Temple, the bustle of the temple town, and the tree-lined streets that let you feel the seasons.
And Tokyo Tower has a majestic appearance no matter where you look from.
The town of Daimon in Minato Ward has changed its appearance many times over the years, quietly accumulating memories of prayer and rebirth .
This time, we will focus on the birth of Tokyo Tower, an essential part of the Daimon landscape, and its relationship with the city .
Why not experience the moment when this "symbol of hope" that connects the past and future of this city gently overlaps with your daily life?
Tokyo Tower, built as a symbol of postwar hope
Tokyo Tower was completed in 1958 (Showa 33) .
As post-war reconstruction progressed, the building was constructed with the latest technology and passion of the time as a symbol of Japan's "power to look forward."
Its height is 333 meters, and it was designed to surpass the Eiffel Tower in Paris, garnering attention as the "tallest tower in the world."
The site chosen for the construction was a corner of Shiba Park .
It is located right next to Zojoji Temple and Daimon, which once flourished as a temple town.
"Is it okay to build such a large tower right next to the Tokugawa family temple?"
There were apparently many discussions at the time, but ultimately the tower took root in this area as a way of "coexisting tradition and modernity."
Zojoji Temple, where people offer quiet prayers, and Tokyo Tower, stretching high into the sky.
This contrast seems to gently offer us a timeless perspective.
The scenery that has been passed down makes everyday life a little easier
At the base of Tokyo Tower, there are many scenes that make you feel the passage of time.
A brick wall, a path with sunlight filtering through the trees, and an elderly couple sitting on a bench.
When I see such scenery, I feel as if someone is telling me, "It's okay to take it easy" even in the midst of my busy daily life.
And strangely enough, in such places, my sense of self suddenly returns .
When we have more space in our minds, we can be more careful about what we eat and what we choose.
When you find yourself in a town like Daimon, where old and new coexist, you naturally regain the ability to make careful choices.
That is, while working hard every day, I want to think carefully about my family and my own health.
This may be the perfect feeling for someone like you.
Choosing "unchanging kindness"
The town of Daimon has survived through repeated regeneration.
In this place watched over by Tokyo Tower, the past and present gently overlap.
It would surely be encouraging if we could incorporate "old-fashioned kindness into the new" into our lives.
For example, the fermented food amazake is one example.
Even in the midst of our busy days, choosing things that are gentle on the body is the first step to taking care of yourself.
Our shop "Kome Dreaming" Amazake " Koji White/Koji Sakura is a product that cherishes this "unchanging gentleness."
This unsweetened amazake is carefully made using only domestically grown rice and rice koji, and is non-alcoholic, easy to drink, and perfect for a break from work or relaxing in the evening.
● A quiet drink in between busy days ● A relaxing drink when you come home ● A drink to give to someone special as a token of your consideration
Just like the town of Daimon, things that are cherished for a long time have a quiet yet powerful charm .
Its charm will make your everyday life just a little bit gentler.
Please try incorporating amazake into your daily life.
Over the course of four trips, we traveled through the history and scenery of Daimon.
What all the articles had in common was the "richness of quiet time" and "passed-down compassion."
I hope that these words will take root in you as you go about your busy daily lives.
